Surrey Hub – The Interactive Druapl 7 Site for the Surrey Community

Surrey Hub is an online resource for businesses that cater for the Surrey area. Many parts of the site are still under development with the aim of eventually being a focal point for business and visitor activities.

The Surrey Hub site was Susumu’s first experience in using Drupal 7 to build an interactive website. Until now, our Drupal 7 portfolio was made up of brochure sites including Temple Property Services and Hotcakes Bakery. Surrey Hub allows for multiple user profile types with varying permissions and charges.

Quickflick TV

Quickflick describe themselves as an Open Source short film festival. They are a global movement with groups in Barcelona, Buenos Aired and even Tokyo. These global groups regularly meet and host screening parties, showcasing some of the short movies that have been submitted, and masterclass events. Their previous website lacked the modern administration facilities to allow for multiple administrators as well as multiple language support. As a result, many of the groups had resorted to building their own sites, independent of the main site.

Starjar App – Javascript Animation

The Starjar app was based on the concept of reward schemes for children. The developer, Matt Glover, spoke to us about the familiar concept being used in the primary school that his daughter attended. The teacher at the school rewarded children with marbles that were put into a jar. When the jar was full, the children were rewarded with a treat.

West African Minerals

West African Minerals Corporation is a publicly traded company on the Alternative Investment Market (AIM). Originally the company traded as Emerging Metals Limited of which Susumu was involved with the design and development of their logo and website. Following a name change in December 2011 a new logo and website was required.

You Do the Shoot – Hacking the YouTube API

You Do the Shoot is a company owned by Ben Annersley that hires out video equipment for weddings and parties. They then edit the footage that has been captured to make an personally interesting video. This site was built using Joomla and two customised video players using the YouTube API. The two YouTube players were each linked to a playlist within YouTube. One was a Playlist for funny wedding videos, and the other was a playlist for wedding dances.

Hotcakes Bakery – Design Through Typography

Hotcakes Bakery, a local Surrey bakery renowned for their vegan speciality cupcakes, was designed using typography to give their site impact. We used a selection of fonts from the Google Fonts directory. Google Fonts is a very exciting development in web design as it allows us to use rich typography, a feature that was avoided in the past as many browsers could only render a small selection of fonts.
